Lanai (pronouced LUH-NYE) was the therapy dog of Dr. Gene Hayes, a tenured professor of over 30 years at the University of Tennessee, who impacted the lives of so many people with disabilities. Dr. Hayes was a proud professor of Recreation Therapy and an advocate for disability rights and the promotion of independence. Lanai was his trained Therapy Dog, and together they attended hundreds of classes at The University Of Tennessee, and impacted the lives of so many. Lanai knew over 100 commands and was able to offer a calming sense of relief to those she interacted with. Her patience, dedication, and commitment to bettering the lives of those who needed help the most, shows not only the selflessness of dogs, but the passion she had for living her best life.
Lanai Therapies is proud to honor Lanai's legacy and her bountiful life which was dedicated to service.
These two words drive everything we do. It is our mission to provide exceptional services that allow for an individual to work towards independence. We are devoted to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan of cognitive and physical disabilities, for the needs of our patients and their families through holistic therapy, advocacy, and support.
Lanai Therapies was created to provide a better experience for everyone involved at each touch point of the specialized therapy continuum - the patients, the families, and our therapists. We spent over two years identifying numerous pain points in the industry and have built Lanai Therapies to alleviate as many of those issues as possible. The results speak for themselves.
These are extraordinary times in health care. The opportunity to help people in need to live better lives has never been greater. So we put our patients at the heart of everything we do, and always strive to make a REAL difference. Because it matters. Its just the right thing to do. At Lanai Therapies, we care about improving lives; one person at a time.
